Company History

Dugas Pest Control of Baton Rouge has been family owned and operated since 1957. We are currently employing our third generation of owner/operator. Our company was purchased by Doug MacPherson in 1973 and is now owned by his daughter, Laura Simpson.

At Dugas, we understand that now more than ever it is important for you to trust someone that you invite into your home. Therefore, we have hired only the most professional, personable technicians to service our customers. Our termite and pest technicians are certified and recertified annually in order to stay up-to-date with the most effective pest management techniques. In addition to our technicians, we also employ a team of friendly, knowledgeable customer service representatives who are eager to help with any questions you may have about our services. Our management team works hard to give its team members the tools they need to provide their customers with the peace of mind they deserve.

Staff

Laura Simpson,
President

Laura has been the President and primary licensee of Dugas Pest Control since 1996. She has 30 years experience in the pest control industry. Laura has a B.S. degree in Accounting from LSU and has attended many seminars and conferences on pest control and pest management including the LSU Pest Control Summer Institute and the LSU Lois Caffey Termite Training School. Laura is a past board member and past president of the Louisiana Pest Management Association (LPMA) and currently sits on its executive board as Treasurer. She is also an active member of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA). She has served on the Convention Planning Committee, the Residential Services Committee, the Pest Management Foundation and Professional Women in Pest Management. She is currently serving her third term on the Board of Directors of the NPMA and, as its Secretary, she is in line to become President of this 6,000+ member company organization in 2012. Laura, along with her husband Floyd Simpson and her son Jeremy Clark, currently manages the day-to-day operations of Dugas Pest Control.

Floyd Simpson,
General Manager

Floyd Simpson has been Executive Vice President and General Manager since March 1, 2006. Floyd has a B.A. degree in Accounting from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. Floyd is retired from the Department of Agriculture and Forestry where his duties included an appointment as Assistant Director of the Structural Pest Control Commission responsible for the day to day regulation of the pest control industry in Louisiana. Floyd has attended many seminars and conferences on pest control and pest management including the LSU Pest Control Summer Institute and the LSU Lois Caffey Termite Training School. Floyd has also been an instructor at the LSU Pest Control Summer Institute, the LSU Lois Caffey Termite Training School and at numerous licensee and technician recertifications. Floyd is currently secretary of the board of directors of the Louisiana Pest Management Association and is active in the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the Association of Structural Pest Control Regulatory Officials (ASPCRO).

Jeremy is the first of the third generation to join Dugas full time. He worked part-time during high school and college primarily in the termite department. Upon graduating LSU, Jeremy moved to Dallas where he spent the next 3 years working as an inside and an outside salesman for a national large equipment leasing company. Since August 1, 2008, he has become reacquainted with the termite department and uses his skills supervising the sales team as well as the termite department.

Kellen began his career with Dugas September 4, 2007, as a pest control technician. He quickly became a valuable member of the pest control team. Kellen’s technical skills, problem solving skills and leadership ability made him a great candidate for a role in management. He was promoted to Pest Control Supervisor March 1, 2009.

Dierdra Scott has been working with customers at Dugas Pest Control for 20 years. She has a unique perspective of many aspects of the industry. As a registered technician, Dierdra has worked in the field as a pest technician as well as working in the office. Dierdra is active in the Greater Baton Rouge Pest Control Association and has served as its Secretary for the past 2 years. She has also worked with the Louisiana Pest Management Association, attending Leadership Development Training and serving on several committees. Dierdra manages the office staff as well as handling accounts payable and human resource functions for Dugas.
